1 Bobbin Spinning
A system of producing rayon by winding the filaments coming from the jet on to a collecting bobbin. There is practically no twist on the threads. This method is mostly Continental. -

A manufacturer's term for the length of cloth which can be woven from one bobbin, spool or tube of weft. -

A package of flax from Russia, tied with ropes into an uncovered bundle, weighing about 2-cwt. -
4 Bobbin And Fly Frame
A spinning mill term for the machine which draws and twists sliver as it is delivered from the drawing frame, and winds it on to bobbins. 5 Bobbin Fining
A trade term for shadow laces made by machinery, but includes a pattern outlined with a thick thread. -
6 Bobbin Lace
Another name for Pillow Lace. It is hand-made lace worked on a cushion from bobbins of thread. The pattern is drawn upon parchment which is then perforated with tiny holes. This pricked pattern is placed on the cushion, on the upper part of the pattern are fastened the ends of the threads unwound from the bobbins, which thus hang across the pillow. These bobbins are then twisted and so worked as to form the fabric. -

A trade term formerly used for soft embroidery silk yarn. -

Made in cotton and in linen, both round and flat, and in nine sizes. -

The machine used for winding yams on to bobbins, either from hanks, cops, cheeses, spools, etc. -

12 Bobbin-Net
A machine-made cotton-face net produced by the bobbinet frame. Heathcote, about the year 1890, seems to have been the inventor of this frame, which has since had many improvements, though the principle remains. Its value depends upon the firmness of the mesh. The coarser weaves being cheaper than the fine ones. Tosca net is a good quality bobbinet, very firmly woven and very durable. -
